CRISPY - Creative Reuse In Singa-Pore Yay!
What is CRISPY? can eat anot?
During the first few days of my mini-retirement, I rented a space to set up a creative reuse centre called The CRISPY Space (CRISPY stands for Creative Reuse In Singa-Pore Yay!) where i collected secondhand art supplies and hosted free art workshops for people of all ages.
Eventually, I had to close the physical space as rental costs were eating away my savings, but my passion for creative reuse has not died. I'm reserving this space on my corner of the internet for CRISPY and its creative reuse workshops. Hopefully one day when i earn enough, i can revisit this dream of having a physical creative reuse center in Singapore!
CRISPY's mission: To inspire mess and chaos
Instead of focusing on what we can make with our secondhand materials, I tell my participants to focus on letting go of perfection and just enjoy the process of creation. I feel that in Singapore, we are all (somehow or other) conditioned to be perfect. We are so afraid of being seen as imperfect that it stifles our creativity and ability to think innovatively.
At CRISPY workshops, all materials we are using are secondhand, so what's there to lose? It doesn't matter if we go home with a "unfinished" product that is not nice to post on Instagram/Tiktok, what matters is we learnt how to release our inhibitions and let go of perfection🌞
You might not get an aesthetic creation out of this workshop, but i guarantee that you will leave with lighter footsteps and a belly full of laughter 🙂❤️
